
Kevin Cloud Named Vice President & Product Actuary
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. January 14, 2009 – Kevin Cloud, FSA, MAAA, has been named Vice President & Product Actuary of the Actuarial Consulting and Product Development Services (PDS) Division of Creative Marketing. In his new role, Cloud will oversee development of fixed and indexed annuities and carrier product consultation.
The PDS division was established more than 13 years ago under the direction of Mike Tripses, now the President of Creative Marketing. While under his leadership, the PDS division authored more than 60 annuities for 9 annuity carriers as well as several indexed life products. With the active support of both Tripses and Paul McGillivray, Senior Vice President, Advanced Marketing, Cloud will continue what Tripses began.

The PDS division is responsible for the design of products that grossed an excess of $3 billion in sales in 2008 alone, with over $15 billion of in-force policies to date. Additionally, Creative Marketing produced over $1.4 billion of annuity premium in 2008 and nearly $20 million in life target premium. As one of the few marketing organizations to bring carriers, product development and a distribution channel together, Creative Marketing continues their commitment to offer comprehensive services and support to each link in the annuity and life insurance distribution chain. Under Cloud’s supervision, Creative Marketing plans to expand their efforts in 2009 and build upon promising product development opportunities.

Cloud joins the Creative Marketing team with more than a decade of experience in the actuarial field. Throughout his career, Cloud has played an important role in the development and management of insurance products. Most recently, he was a Director of Annuity Product Management for Aviva USA, responsible for product management of Fixed Indexed Annuities, including pricing and risk analysis of newly developed products, actuarial guidance of products throughout the development process and setting rates for new money and renewal blocks. Additionally, he was responsible for the actuarial management of Fixed Payout Annuities including rate setting, maintenance of internal and external quoting and pricing tools, and large case review and approval. Prior to his position with Aviva USA, he was an Associate Actuary for ING where he performed actuarial duties for the Life Product Development process including product design, contract design, modeling, illustration design, pricing and risk analysis, marketing review and system implementation. His work focus consisted of Universal Life insurance products, including those with equity indexed, secondary guarantee, high-cash value and survivorship features.
Preceding his professional experience, Cloud was an actuarial student of Conseco, where he studied life and annuity valuation as well as life product development. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He received his Bachelor of Science in actuarial science and mathematics degree Cum Laude from Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.
