ATLANTA and LONDON - CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq: CKFR), has appointed Mark Cappell as senior vice president and managing director of its Operational Risk Management (ORM) business within the company's Software division. Cappell will be based in Wokingham, United Kingdom, and will report directly to Randy McCoy, executive vice president of CheckFree Corporation and general manager of the company's Software division.

Cappell has more than 20 years of experience working in financial services and technology companies. He joins CheckFree from Charles River Development, where he was managing director for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division. He has also worked as a managing director for SmartStream's United Kingdom and European operations, where he was responsible for sales, marketing and professional services. Cappell has also held senior-level trading and sales positions at Merrill Lynch, Midland Bank and Bank of America.
