WELLESLEY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--November 9, 2007--The U.S. division of Sun Life Financial (NYSE: SLF, TSX: SLF) announced its Individual Insurance Division won two marketing awards at the Insurance and Financial Communicators Association (I.F.C.A.) Annual Meeting on October 2. I.F.C.A. is an international organization of life insurance and related financial services companies whose members specialize in marketing, sales promotion, advertising, internal communications and public relations.

Sun Life was awarded Best in Show in the Product Kits category for its Make Giving Go Further marketing material, and also received an Honorable Mention for an industry byline article, Make Giving Go Further, in the category of Creativity in Speeches/Articles.

“Make Giving Go Further is an innovative program designed to enable client charitable giving goals,” said Michele Van Leer, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Individual Insurance, Sun Life Assuarance Company of Canada. “At the same time, the program can help Financial Advisors broaden their services to clients and strengthen their life insurance marketing efforts. Having the industry recognize Make Giving Go Further is very gratifying.”

Make Giving Go Further highlights Sun Life’ s unique Charitable Giving Benefit Rider, which provides Sun Life’ s universal and variable universal life insurance clients the opportunity to donate one percent of their policy’ s value to a qualified charity without an increase in premium or reduction in death benefit. Make Giving Go Further focuses on educating Sun Life’ s distribution partners and clients about this innovative charitable giving opportunity.

The Make Giving Go Further article highlighted practical, repeatable opportunities for including a discussion about charitable giving into a life insurance dialogue with clients. The article supported a general discussion of charitable giving, with versions appearing in Life & Health Advisor in October 2006, Boomer Market Advisor in February, 2007, and National Underwriter in April, 2007.

This year, there were more than 500 entries into the annual awards competition, which is meant to recognize excellence in communications in both the United States and Canada.
