Americans for Annuity Protection adds Cailie Currin to Board

user

Americans for Annuity Protection (AAP) announced the addition Monday of Cailie Currin, president and owner, Currin Compliance, to its board of directors.

Currin has been in insurance regulation and compliance for more than 20 years.  She served as a New York State Insurance Department Regulator and in-house compliance attorney at a major life insurer. In her consulting practice, she has a staff of analysts in three divisions:  Advertising and Producer Compliance Department, Corporate and Product Compliance Department, and the Compliance and Risk Mitigation Assistance Program.

Since January 2007, Currin and her staff have been providing a wide variety of compliance consulting and advisory services to life insurance companies, independent marketing organizations, agencies and producers. She also has a law practice in which she provides legal opinions and representation on issues related to the regulation of life insurance.

Americans for Annuity Protection Board of Director officers include Chairman Paul Feldman, Vice Chairman Kim O’Brien and Treasurer David Kefford. O’Brien also serves as Chief Advocate and Kefford as Chief Financial Officer of the organization.

Currin joins fellow board member, Richard M. Weber, MBA, CLU®, AEP® (Distinguished) who was the 2012-2013 9resident of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and now serves as chairman of the Society’s Foundation. A 48-year veteran of the life insurance industry, Weber has been a successful agent, an insurance company executive, and now a consultant to insurers and their agents on the topic of effective and ethical selling. Currin states: “After many years in insurance compliance, I know how many great annuity products are out there and what an important role annuities play for consumers. I have no doubt that annuities will become even more important as more of us continue to search for retirement income and longevity protection. I am very excited to join the board of AAP and to be a part of educating the public about the rigorous compliance standards applied to annuities and the important role they can play for Americans thinking about their retirement.”

In September, the AAP board and annuity consumers suffered the incredible loss of Jim Mumford. He is sorely missed and served AAP with a steady hand. Jim was passionate about AAP’s mission to help annuity consumers and contributed invaluable advice and guidance in our early stages.

“Cailie, is a very welcome addition. While no one can replace Jim, Cailie’s background as a regulator and compliance attorney will fill an important role on our Board of Directors,” says Feldman, who is also the publisher of InsuranceNewsNet.

At Americans for Annuity Protection our job is to make sure the annuity consumer is represented in a well-regulated annuity marketplace.  That means we are here to ensure a safe and trustworthy sales environment that provides:

  • Easy-to-understand annuity information that is conveniently available;
  • Choice of competitive, comprehensive and abundant annuity products; and,
  • Affordable access to experienced and well-trained professionals that provide annuity advice and assistance.

“I am excited to work with Cailie who has served and continues to serve the annuity consumer in important and meaningful ways,” stated O’Brien.
