Blount commented that he bad seen a plaque in the front of the library saying it had been built by the County and all the municipalities, so why not ask the other municipalities to fund the library, too?
"We've never been to the other cities and asked for funding," Isbell said. "But I'm sure their contributions would be very small."
Blount said that any money would be good and he would ask the municipalities if Isbell wishes.
"Any money would help," Isbell said, "but it won't prevent us closing the doors on evenings and weekends. We've cut the budget to the bone already."
Blount repeated what he's said several times before and to other agencies to which funds have been reduced, that the City would wait until its mid-year analysis in July, and "maybe we'll have additional funds."
Isbell expressed embarrassment, saying the local library has "eaten up its fund equity" and she finds herself in an awkward situation.
"We are the system headquarters and we're having to cut services," she said, while the other libraries in the system have not.
