Heller Continues Fight to Restore Benefits for Military Retirees
Offers paid-for amendment to restore the full COLA for military retirees
"Nearly three months ago,
*In January, Senator Heller and seven of his Republican Senators introduced legislation (S. 1931) to fully pay for an extension of unemployment insurance benefits for three months. The bill also would have repealed the cuts in the military retiree COLA included in December's budget agreement.
*Senator Heller introduced an amendment to The Unemployment Insurance Extension Act (S. 1845) that included a provision to repeal the unfair COLA reduction for military retirees that was included in the recent budget agreement.
*In December, Senator Heller voted against the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013, introduced by Senator
*Senator Heller cosponsored the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2013 (PL-113-52). The law provides for an increase in the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities and the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation for the survivors of certain disabled veterans.
