Boone disagreed, saying he would advise anyone in Brown's position to get independent counsel because anything she said under oath during the deposition could be used later in her lawsuit.
In the end, the measure failed to pass when Whipple voted against it. Whipple said Whipple-Lue made a similar request of the council to pay for her attorney, which was denied.
