Playground cleanup needs McAdoo council’s approval

"We moved equipment from that site due to some drug activity that may have been going on at that playground," Madochick said. "We found empty bags that are used for drugs and empty beer bottles at the site."
He and others on council are not against sprucing up the park by volunteers who may want to paint up some things and make it look better, but he cautioned that anything changed on that site must be approved by council before it is done.
Madochick said the playground hasn't been neglected. Large piles of snow had to be dumped on the site because the borough had nowhere else to dump it, he said.
"We intended to clean it up in late spring or early summer," he said.
The website states that the basketball court is cracking and crumbling and basketball nets are ripped. The group wants to restore Adams Street Playground to what it was at one time.
So far, 13 people have contributed
"That's fine, but we didn't want children playing on the playground with possible illegal activity taking place on the site," Madochick said. "We welcome any help with the playground but they have to communicate with us."
The volunteer group also wants to buy paint for the bleachers and pavement and they want to set a good example of what it is to be part of a community project, according to the website.
Mostly, they want to encourage children to make a difference, the website says, so they are putting out a call for money and volunteers.

Attempts to reach Pollack have not drawn a response.
A council member said Pollack is expected to attend Tuesday's meeting.
