The lawsuit claims Van De Loo inflicted harmful and offensive sexual contact on the plaintiff while providing him with medical care and treatment at
The lawsuit contends Mayo received a complaint from a parent of another minor male in 2007, who claimed Van De Loo had inappropriate contact with a child during a medical exam.
As a result, the suit claims Mayo was negligent in failing to adequately supervise Van De Loo and continued to represent him as a qualified and competent physician who was safe to work with patients.
In its answer to the first civil suit,
Mayo officials said they didn't know Van De Loo posed a danger to patients, including children. They said they weren't aware of the sexual assault allegations against Van De Loo until 2012, after which time he was removed from patient care and later terminated.
