UMF official to get training at Harvard [Morning Sentinel, Waterville, Maine]
Aug. 21--FARMINGTON -- The vice president of student and community services at the University of Maine at Farmington will attend a leadership program at Harvard University this fall.
UMF's Celeste Branham was recently accepted to the Leadership for the 21st Century program at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, according to a news release from UMF. In the program, she will explore the dynamics of leadership and authority and look at new leadership strategies.
"This will be an exciting educational opportunity that coincides perfectly with UMF's ongoing efforts to meet the changing educational needs of today's students," said Branham, in the release. "As the future unfolds for institutions of higher education across the country, they must lead the way to create new learning opportunities for their students, new partnerships with their communities, and new ways to build bridges between the two."
Branham has worked in higher education for more than 30 years and has served as vice president of student and community services at UMF since 2005. In that position, she oversees student life, public safety, athletics, the student health center, dining services and the fitness center.
Branham is also the vice president of the Western Maine Community Action Board of Directors and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Center for Preventing Hate.
