WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 -- Rep. Rick Nolan, D-Minn., issued the following news release:
U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan today offered an amendment to the Senate Republican's Budget Resolution (S. Con. Res. 3) in an effort to prevent Congress from considering any future legislation that would increase average health insurance premiums, deductibles or out-of-pocket costs, which are expected to occur under Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Despite the universal, nonpartisan need for this type of protection, Republicans in the House Committee on Rules rejected Nolan's measure.
"I'm disheartened that House Republicans on the Rules Committee decided to make this a partisan issue and reject our common sense amendment," Nolan said.
"We simply can't keep playing politics with people's health care. Rest assured, I will continue fighting for affordable health care - and for an open process that allows for full debate and consideration of ideas."
