Retirement community to be built on KY 32

May 20--A new, $6 million assisted living facility and retirement community are coming to Rowan County.

Morehead businessman Steve Williams and Northfork LLC., have started site work on property off KY 32 and Jackson Drive that will soon be the Northfork Assisted Living Facility and The Meadows at Northfork.

"This area really needs a facility of this type," said Williams. "I'm trying to accommodate the needs of the people. This has been a widely-known necessity for a while."

The assisted living facility will be built in phases and the first will include 22 assisted living units. Each unit will have 164 square feet of living space and a bathroom.

"Along with the 22 units, we will have a kitchen, dining room, activity area, and even a beauty salon," he said. "The structure will be brick, have porches for residents to sit and gazebos in the outdoor area for relaxation."

The care level assessment will be based on the individual's functional needs analysis. This process allows the resident services coordinator to work in designing a specific care plan.

They can assist with any and all of the instrumental activities of daily living, from the simple thing such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting to the advanced care of transferring, continence care, and medication reminders.

The basic pricing structure includes three fresh-cooked meals per day, unlimited snacks and beverages, and scheduled shopping and lunch excursions.

It also includes weekly laundry and housekeeping service, on-site daily recreational activities, and around-the-clock care giving staff.

"With the price of what it would cost for all the services we will offer, you will save a lot of money," said Williams. "Rent, taxes and insurance, security and emergency services, food and groceries, utilities and maintenance, janitorial services, and 24-hour care will be included in one price."

The facility was designed by Josh Trent. Jackson Builders is responsible for the site work. Steven Mabry of Olive Hill will build the facility.

"The site work was started on Monday," he said. "The project should be completed by spring of 2015."

Williams said he plans to add additional 11 units in each phase into the future with the ultimate possibility of 62 units.

There will also be the development of independent living houses available for rent that will allow transition from homes to the assisted living facility.

The brick homes are 1,500 square feet with a garage and full landscape.

There is room on the property for 22 houses and tenants will have access to meal and service plans.
